Blue Isle Studios is looking for a candidate with extensive experience in art workflows from shipping one or more successful AAA console or PC game titles. Our ideal candidate is someone passionate about bridging the gap between two very different disciplines and seeing it all brought together into one cohesive end-product. 

This is a full-time contract, remote position (minimum 3 months).

Responsibilities:

  1. Creation of handcrafted visual effects to be used in real-time game assets

  2. Technical setup and integration of VFX in-engine

  3. Technical setup and integration of animations and blendtrees in-engine

  4. Work with programming staff to integrate code-heavy artistic assets such as player models, weapons and and abilities

Requirements:

  1. Experience working with Unreal Engine 4

  2. Shipped at least one title using any version of Unreal

  3. Experience in 3DSMax, Maya and integration of assets in Unreal 4

  4. Strong experience with Cascade, Niagara and Persona

  5. Experience with Blueprints in Unreal Engine

  6. Strong communication skills with both artists and programmers

  7. Minimum 3 years working in game development

Pluses:

  1. C++ coding experience

  2. Experience working on multiplayer games

  3. Computer science or related degree

Console Port Programmer UE4

Blue Isle Studios is seeking a talented and enthusiastic programmer to join our team. We are looking for someone that is comfortable working closely with the lead programmer to port Citadel from our existing current gen console code base and support PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X platforms. You would also be responsible for working with design and QA to develop additional gameplay content.

This is a full-time remote position. The ideal candidate can work on an Eastern Standard Time zone schedule.  

Responsibilities:

  1. Adapt and improve existing multiplayer systems to fit performance needs

  2. Creating stable working builds of Citadel working on PS5 and Xbox Series X

  3. Ensure gamepad user experience and flow is optimal

  4. Ensure game graphics are representative of the game’s PC experience

  5. Debugging and fixing any material issues that arise in the porting process

  6. Ensuring the game correctly conforms to the many console certification requirements

  7. Working with our QA team to ensure the game is generally defect free

  8. Developing or improving gameplay systems in C++ or blueprint to support expansion content

  9. Working with the Epic online subsystems as well as console APIs

Requirements:

  1. Experience with Xbox and PlayStation platforms

  2. Strong C++ and blueprinting skills in Unreal Engine 4

  3. Experience working with client/server architecture

  4. Experience with performance analysis and code optimization

  5. High level of comfort extending and improving upon an existing code base

  6. Excellent communication skills

  7. Minimum of 5 years coding experience

  8. Minimum of 2 years experience programming in the video game industry

Pluses:

  1. Technical art skills with particles using cascade or niagara

  2. Technical art skills with skeletal meshes and animation blueprints

  3. Computer science or related degree

  4. Experience with multithreading
